At Piercing Lab, we are committed to safe, professional service and high-quality body jewelry. Because piercing is a regulated personal service and body jewelry is a direct-contact health product, the following policies apply to all services and purchases.
1. Piercing Services
All piercing services are final sale. Once a service has been performed, no refunds will be issued.
This is industry standard practice across professional piercing studios and reflects the nature of the service:
- The procedure cannot be returned, reversed, or transferred.
- Time, sterile single-use supplies, technician labour, and aftercare instruction have been provided.
- Healing outcomes depend on individual anatomy and aftercare compliance.
We strongly recommend reviewing all service details with your piercer before the procedure begins.
2. Body Jewelry
All body jewelry sold at Piercing Lab is final sale.
For health, safety, and hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns or exchanges on any jewelry, whether worn or unworn. This applies to:
- Jewelry installed during a piercing appointment.
- Jewelry purchased separately for self-installation or future use.
- Special-order pieces, custom orders, and gold jewelry.
Please confirm size, style, gauge, and material with your piercer before purchase. Our team is happy to assist with fitting and selection.
3. Defective Jewelry Warranty
We stand behind the quality of every piece we sell. We offer the following warranty on manufacturing defects:

Covered: Threading failure, broken posts on first wear, missing stones due to faulty setting, plating defects on first wear.
Not covered: Damage from impact, sleeping, snagging, improper removal, chemical exposure (chlorine, perfumes, cleaning agents), normal wear, lost jewelry, or pieces modified after purchase.
To submit a warranty claim, contact us within the warranty period with your proof of purchase and clear photographs of the defect. Approved claims will be replaced with the same or comparable item. Cash refunds are not issued under warranty.
4. Healing and Aftercare Issues
Healing is a personal biological process and outcomes vary. While we cannot refund services based on healing complications, we are here to support you through the entire healing journey at no additional cost.
We offer the following complimentary aftercare support:
- Free aftercare consultations for any piercing performed at Piercing Lab.
- Free jewelry check-ups to assess fit and healing progress.
- Troubleshooting appointments for irritation, bumps, or migration concerns.
- Referrals to medical professionals if a piercing shows signs of infection or requires medical attention.
If you experience persistent issues, please book a check-up appointment before removing your jewelry or attempting self-treatment. Most healing concerns can be resolved with proper guidance.
We are not a medical clinic and cannot diagnose or treat infections, allergic reactions, or skin conditions. For these, please consult a physician.
5. Downsizing Appointments
Downsizing (changing the initial longer post to a shorter, fitted piece) is a critical step in healing for most piercings.
- First downsize: Service fee applies. Jewelry cost is separate.
- Recommended timing: Varies by piercing type, typically 6 to 12 weeks after initial procedure.
- Booking: Downsize appointments must be booked separately and are not included in the original piercing service fee.
Failure to downsize within the recommended window can affect healing and is not grounds for refund of the original service.
6. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and No-Shows
We do not require a deposit to book an appointment. In return, we ask clients to respect our scheduling policy so we can continue offering flexible booking:
- Rescheduling and cancellations: Please provide at least 24 hours notice by email, phone, or your booking confirmation.
- Late cancellation (less than 24 hours): Recorded on your client file.
- No-show: Recorded on your client file.
- Late arrival: Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may be treated as a no-show at the piercer's discretion, depending on the day's schedule.
- Repeat late cancellations or no-shows: Clients with two or more late cancellations or no-shows may be required to prepay in full for future appointments, or may be declined future bookings.
We appreciate your respect for our time and the time of other clients waiting to book.
7. Gift Cards and Store Credit
- Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- Gift cards do not expire under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act.
- Lost or stolen gift cards cannot be replaced. Please treat them as cash.
- Store credit issued by Piercing Lab (in cases of approved warranty claims or service adjustments) is valid for 12 months from the date of issue, non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- Gift cards and store credit can be applied to both services and jewelry.
8. Your Rights Under Alberta Law
This policy does not limit your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (Alberta) or other applicable Canadian consumer protection legislation. If you believe a product or service does not meet legal standards of quality or fitness for purpose, please contact us so we can address your concern directly.
